Dracula--Dead and Loving It Review

!!!!SPOILER ALERT!!!!

Over 20 years after he gave us "Young Frankenstein", Mel Brooks returned to make fun of the classic movie monsters again, this time making light of the vampire king himself. "Dracula: Dead and Loving" is a 1995 comedy-horror that satires Bram Stoker's famous novel and its MANY various film adaptations. Since it was released in 1995, I highly suspect the 1992 film starring Keanu Reeves and Gary Oldman was largely the inspiration for its production. The movie primarily satires the 1931 film starring Bela Lugosi (particularly with its many deviations from the novel), and in addition it also spoofs 1967's "The Fearless Vampire Killers", as well as 1992's "Bram Stoker's Dracula", and the collection of horror films produced by Hammer Film Productions; with tidbit references made to other vampire-related cinema such as 1935's "Mark of the Vampire" and the 1922 silent movie classic, "Nosferatu".

As this is a Mel Brooks film, the movie is packed from start to finish with hilarious sight gags, clever puns and parodies, well-written inside jokes, wacky screwball slapstick, and amusing (yet tasteful) sexual innuendo, and to only add to the hilarity of the film Mel Brooks' comic genius is combined with the wild insanity of the 90's funny man himself, Leslie Nielsen. Two of film history's greatest comedians since Groucho Marx join forces to turn this movie into a non-stop paramount laugh riot. For this reason, this movie is my one of my all-time favorite horror movie satires coming in second only to the wild cartoonish absurdity of "Transylvania Twist" and Mel Brooks' original comedy-horror classic, "Young Frankenstein"...and of course Peter MacNicol who played the wacky Janosz in "Ghostbusters II" now delivers a hilarious performance as the zany Renfield. All together these outlandish funny men all do their parts to bury the needle on the comedy meter deep in the red.

If you haven't seen this flick, ladies and gentlemen I definitely recommend it! You'll just die from laughing...and love it!:XD:
