List of Special Attacks in "Fractured Fantasy"

Conceptualized by Salim Al-Mumin

After defeating any one of the Phantom Fragments, your character will acquire special attacks which are unique to those specific bosses. However these attacks can only be used when your emotional health bar is within a certain range. If the attack is characteristic of Depression your emotional health must be below 50%, but if the nature of the attack is manic then your emotional health must be anywhere above 50%, but great care must be taken in the use of these attacks for using them will either drain your emotional health further or draw it closer to maxing out, which considering extreme Depression and Mania is a life-killer in this game you're going to want to avoid that.
The slight exception to this are the attacks acquired from the Lustful Mortal. To utilize his attacks your physical health must be at least 75% and your emotional health bar must be at least half full. If either one is too low then your character will not be able to "get it up" (pun intended).

Raining Sorrow- This is one of the first special attacks you receive in the game from the Mournful Sage. This attack allows you to summon a rainfall of tears. It is primarily effective against non-corporeal psychic-based enemies, and is one of the most significant ways to deal considerable damage to level bosses like Void and OPN. The attack encompasses the entire stage, but has little to no effect on carnal enemies (making it virtually useless during Edon's level). In order to use it the player's emotional health must below 50%.

Wail of Despair- Another attack acquired from the Sage. This attack is a bone-chilling cry of anguished misery. It deals considerable damage to anything within its immediate radius. Once activated, your character levitates above the stage before releasing a mournful cry accompanied by a massive spray of tears that erupts from its eyes in all directions. This attack deals both physical and psychic damage, thus making it super effective against both corporeal and non-corporeal enemies. Of course, since this attack came from the Sage it can only be used when your emotional health falls below the 50% mark.

Emotional Drain- This attack is gained after defeating the Spiteful Cynic. It allows you to open up a black vortex which sucks up lesser enemies pulling them into the empty chasm of oblivion. During boss battles, multiple vortexes can be opened up at once in order to drain energy from the boss character gradually lowering their health bar, but caution should again be taken because not only will using this attack drain your emotional health the vortexes will also sap your strength if you get too close. Your emotional health must be below 50% to use.

Frozen Heart- Here is another ability gained from the Cynic. When this attack is employed a massive frozen heart flashes on the screen after which all onscreen enemies are temporarily frozen in blocks of ice. Once enemies are frozen you can then strike them with any one of your basic attacks to shatter them into pieces. This attack can also be used on bosses as well, but like all other enemies they will not stay frozen. After a minute or two they will break free, but it does take a bite out of their health bar. It also makes them slightly more susceptible to physical damage if you wail on them while they're on ice. (Note: this attack will have zero effect on Edon, but it will freeze his underlings long enough for you to strike at his weak spot). Emotional health must be below 50% to use.

Crystal Wave- Another attack from the Cynic. This attack allows the player to summon a wave of sharp crystal fragments to erupt from the ground seriously maiming any immediate enemy. However it has no effect on flying enemies, and is one of few special attacks that has little effect on bosses, since most of them can fly (or in Edon's case, are fused to a wall).

Rainbow Bolts- This is the primary attack gained after defeating OPN. The Rainbow Bolts are beams of volatile prismatic energy which deal out considerable damage. Once activated, the bolts auto-target the nearest enemy. Whenever lesser enemies are struck by these bolts they rapidly flash through the entire color spectrum before exploding into a mess of colorful gunk. WARNING: Do Not Spam! Extended use will cause your character's emotional health to rise exponentially if used too frequently. Emotional health must exceed 50% in order to use.

Dream Smoke- Yet another attack acquired from OPN. The Dream Smoke will change lesser enemy characters into harmless animals and geometric shapes before causing them to poof out of existence. This attack however has no effect on any of the bosses. Emotional health must exceed 50%.

Cackling Mania- Another attack acquired after defeating OPN, this special is similar to the Wail of Despair, as it is another highly effective AOE. Once activated the player character emits a high-pitched dissonant cackle which ripples across the stage hitting any enemy within the player's immediate radius causing minor enemies to explode with a bright flash of colors. This attack also deals significant damage against the remaining level bosses. Needs an emotional health stat of +50 to use.

Star-Felled Destruction- This special attack is yet another gained after defeating OPN. It grants the player the ability to summon a hailstorm of comets and twinkling stardust which rains down from the heavens like a tactical carpet bombing devastating every enemy on the stage.

Cosmic Truth- This special might just be the most powerful and devastating attack that the player acquires from the Mad Imp, but it is also the most costly to use. This attack very briefly creates a tear in the fabric of creation to reveal a peek beyond the veil of worldly sense and sanity where unfathomable things dwell. Once activated the attack causes the background to devolve into a short procession of rapid flashing among which a series of brief glimpses of unspeakable cosmic horrors can be seen filling up the entirety of the background. The attack is super-effective and causes all onscreen enemies to explode out of existence with a violent white flash. However use of this attack takes a major toil on your character and shoots your emotional health up to 95%; leaving the player character visibly weary and scared out of their piss.

Spermoid Swarm- An attack gained after defeating the Lustful Mortal, this special gives you the power to summon a swarm of monstrous spermoids to attack the nearest onscreen enemy. However since most remaining bosses are nearly impervious to physical attacks this special deals only minor damage to them.

Flesh Cocoon- This attack is another one acquired from the Lustful Mortal. It allows the player to summon a mass of flesh to spring up from the ground and ensnare the nearest onscreen enemy in a pink bloody sinewy cocoon rendering them totally immobile; basically trapping them inside of a giant pimple. However it has absolutely no effect on flying enemies. It also has zero effect on the other bosses, but during boss fights the cocoon can be used as a shield to block against their attacks.

"Unleash The Beast!"- Yet one more attack gained after defeating the Lustful Mortal. This attack allows the player to summon the terrible Phallic Beast from the Carnal Caverns. Once summoned the creature erupts from the ground flailing to and fro like a veiny serpent before it reaches down and snaps up (or at) the nearest onscreen enemy. In the case of level bosses, the beast merely snaps at them taking a chunk out of their health bar before retreating back down underground.

A comprehensive list and description of all the various special attacks the player can acquire from the multiple level bosses in my WIP game, "Fractured Fantasy".
